This special session will take place Tuesday, October 22, from 6-9pm at the Wenatchee Convention Center. The Short Course provides an overview of the complex mix of land use planning laws that work together to support land-use decision-making in Washington state, including an introduction to comprehensive planning and plan implementation under the Growth Management Act. The course is always taught by planning professionals and a land use attorney who also provides mandatory training on the Open Public Meetings Act for local government officials. Attendance is free, registration is requested for planning purposes.

Tech Teams

Do you have an infrastructure improvement project that you know you must tackle, but aren’t sure how to pay for it? Would you like to meet with funding program staff to learn about possible resources for your project? If so, we have an opportunity for you!

On Tuesday morning, October 22, we will organize “Tech Team” meetings in which you will have the opportunity to present your project to funding program staff, and learn how various programs may be able to assist you. By the end of the meeting your community will have an actionable plan of next steps to address your issue.

To request a Tech Team meeting, copy the Project Description Form (Word document) template to your computer and fill it out.

Please send your completed Project Description Form to Claire Miller Claire.miller@commerce.wa.gov
before September 18, 2024. Claire will then contact you. If you have questions contact Claire at (509) 505-3046.

Please note:
• The original request for a Tech Team should come from a community member.
• Tech Team meetings are organized to help communities prioritize multiple infrastructure challenges, develop a specific project idea, or plan for projects that will need multiple funding partners or that face complicated regulatory issues.
• Tech Team meetings are scheduled for Tuesday morning, October 22, before the official start of the conference. Our pool of agency staff is limited to those who are available on Tuesday morning.
• The IACC Tech Team schedule is finalized 3 weeks before the conference so that staff have adequate time to prepare.
